Is racing electric cars a good way to advance technology?

Electric vehicles are powered entirely or partially by electricity. They are extremely eco-friendly because they use very little or no fossil fuels. Electric cars accelerate more quickly than vehicles powered by traditional gasoline engines, which makes them feel lighter to drive.

Automobile manufacturers are embracing the electric vehicle as technology improves.

The technology of electric vehicles (EVs) is constantly evolving.

Formula E has made a significant contribution to the growth of electric vehicle racing as a mainstream sport.

Formula E is a single-seater motorsport championship for electric cars, officially known as the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

Formula E has been around for a while, but a slew of newer electric racing events have recently popped up.

The Extreme E race series, which debuted earlier this year, is another example. It features a series of off-road events in which electric sports utility vehicles (SUVs) compete. SuperCharge will also bring EV racing to city streets around the world in 2022.

Nicola Scimeca, the founder of YCOM, a motorsport technology firm, says, “This is a race vehicle.” “It’s completely different.”

His company created the S1-X eSkoote for use in the eSkootr Championship, an actual race series for high-speed scooters that will take place next year.

It has carbon fiber chassis, inflatable tires, and a 1.5 Kilowatt-hour battery. Mr. Scimeca claims he could hear the squeal of the electric motor as it accelerated and decelerated, as well as the thrum of the tires as they gripped the track. It also provides an unexpectedly steady ride, according to him.

There is a slew of other events where electric vehicle racing is gaining traction.

Mr. Scimeca says his team felt like they were inventing a new sport when they started designing their racing e-scooter because there was no precedent to build on. They were also unsure about how riders would operate the vehicle.

When it comes to automobiles and electric vehicles, Shailesh Chandra, president of Tata Motors’ passenger business vehicle unit, believes that manufacturers must build on their specialist knowledge in connected technologies to fully realize the potential of electric mobility. In India, the company is the largest manufacturer of electric passenger vehicles.
In order to further penetrate the EV segment, Tata Motors is bolstering its integrated technology strategy, which it is working on with several group companies. Tata Motors plans to launch 10 EV models by fiscal 2025.
