All allegations of Amazon executives smuggling drugs are false: According to Amazon India

Amazon‘s Indian subsidiary has denied reports that executives have been charged in connection with a drug trafficking scheme. On November 14, 2021, police in Madhya Pradesh arrested two men in possession of 20 kilograms of the drug.

In a drug-trafficking case, Indian police allegedly booked an executive director of Amazon under the Narcotics, Drugs, and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).

It is illegal to produce/manufacture/cultivate, possess, sell, purchase, transport, store, and/or consume any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance under the NDPS Act.

The company denied all of those claims in a statement, saying that any claims of Amazon executives being arrested or charged in connection with the drug case are false and that it has no knowledge of any Amazon executives being named in the investigation.

The drug dealer’s registration on the e-commerce portal was investigated.

According to a police press release, Suraj and Mukul, the two accused in the case, created a company called Babu Tex and used the Amazon portal to sell marijuana from Visakhapatnam to various parts of the country.

Amazon also stated that it has a zero-tolerance policy for misconduct and takes strict action against individuals or third-party violators of its policies or applicable laws.

The company also stated that it is assisting law enforcement authorities with the investigation.

The company stated that they are gathering relevant information as requested by the local investigating authorities and that they are on track to submit them by the deadline.

According to the police, approximately 1,000 kg of marijuana worth approximately $148,000 was sold via Amazon.

Since last year, the Indian government has taken stringent measures to eliminate the use of illicit drugs as well as human tracking.

NBC has been investigating several high-profile Indian actors and television personalities (Narcotics Control Bureau).
