Dubai ranked first among MENA cities to work for financial professionals

Dubai is one of the fastest-growing cities in the world and is gaining recognition as a financial hub as it attempts to become the financial capital of the Middle East.

Many global financial institutions are rushing to open and staff regional offices in Dubai making the city a popular destination for finance professionals.

International applicants might find that they can find work here even if they do not speak Arabic. While cosmopolitan, Dubai still follows the rule of Sharia Law (the religious legal system for the Islamic faith). The city allows alcohol consumption by non-Muslims, but there are strict rules that must be followed.

These were the findings of a report “Top 10 Cities for a Career in Finance,” published by Investopedia on Saturday. Dubai has been first among the cities in the Middle East by Investopedia which is specialized in information related to the finance sector around the world.

Investopedia chose the top 10 cities in the world to work in the finance sector, based on a number of objective assessment factors related to the strength of the financial sector in each city, in addition to other auxiliary factors related to the lifestyle of employees in the city, such as the cost of living, language requirements and others.

There are finance jobs to be found in nearly every city in the world, but some cities offer more potential than others. The top 10 cities for finance jobs examine their language requirements, typical weather, cost of living, and other factors. All of these 10 cities are expensive places to live, but they also offer plentiful and high-paying jobs in the finance industry.

Global Firms Flock to Dubai

The report said that many international financial institutions were flocking to Dubai to open regional offices in the Emirate and talked about the conditions related to the lifestyle in Dubai, describing it as a global city, as it accommodates residents of all nationalities of the world.

Dubai was followed by Frankfurt, Hong Kong, London, New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, and Zurich, which were ranked from fourth to 10th on the list, respectively. This means that Dubai is the only city in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to find a place in the list. The first and second places were occupied by Boston and Chicago, the two US cities respectively.

Graduates with a finance degree can work for a wide range of employers, from Wall Street banks and insurance companies to financial-planning firms.

The types of jobs finance majors can choose from vary greatly, including wealth managers, investing banking, corporate finance, management consultancy, accountants, loan officers, equity research, financial planning, budget analysis, and treasury analysis.
