For the first time, Abu Dhabi National Energy Company hosted the World Utilities Congress

On Monday, the first edition of the World Utilities Congress took place, hosted by Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA). It was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Office, His Excellency Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure for the UAE.

At the opening ceremony of the Nuclear Energy Leadership Forum, Mohamed Al Hammadi, managing director and CEO at ENEC spoke about the leadership that has consistently made clean energy a strategic priority and also invested in clean energy technologies to deliver an energy mix that combines renewable, nuclear and clean energy sources to meet our economic and sustainability goals.

The three-day exhibition and conference will run until May 11 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, gathering over 10,000 trade professionals and 120 exhibiting companies. The event will also bring together over 200 industry expert speakers, and over 1000 conference delegates, and host more than 50 strategic and technical conference sessions.

Awaidha Murshed Al Marar, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE), said that The Congress reflects the emirate’s commitment to contribute toward building a sustainable future. Developing the utility sector and embracing advanced technology and digital transformation is essential for meeting the emirate’s water and electricity needs in the future and for enhancing energy efficiency and increasing clean energy’s share of the energy mix.

The opening day witnessed the kick-off of the ‘Nuclear Energy Leadership Forum’, which convenes global industry professionals for three days, to explore the deployment of safe, reliable nuclear energy generation, technological advancements in nuclear energy, and the latest in research and development of nuclear science and technology.

During these three days, leaders and industry experts from around the globe discussed the critical issues and explored solutions in the conference sessions.

The first edition of the World Utilities Congress 2022 was held with the support of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE), the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), and the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC). The event’s list of partners and sponsors included; the National Central Cooling Company (Tabreed); Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC); Baker Hughes; Frost & Sullivan; Boston Consulting Group; Endress + Hauser; Toshiba, Schneider Electric, and Publicis Sapient.
