Stargate UAE Makes Progress Towards Delivery in 2026
The Abu Dhabi-based G42 Group, which is owned by UAE’s Royal family member Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has announced major progress on the construction of Stargate UAE, a 1 GW large-scale AI infrastructure cluster being developed by Khazna Data Centers, a subsidiary of G42 company, within the 5 GW UAE–US AI Campus.
Announcing the details at GITEX Global 20215 on Thursday evening, the company said that final work on the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems was currently underway, while the core modular components have entered production.
Announced in May with global partners OpenAI, Oracle, NVIDIA, Cisco, and SoftBank, Stargate UAE has moved rapidly from design to construction under Khazna’s leadership, marking a decisive step in the UAE’s AI infrastructure build-out.
Working closely with its partners, the team is building the first 200 MW of the 1GW mega-scale infrastructure on an accelerated timeline. The construction is progressing strongly and is making steady progress towards the project’s scheduled delivery in 2026, the company said.
During a media briefing hosted on the side lines of the GITEX Global 2025, a spokesperson of G42 explained that the project has completed the procurement of all long-term equipment, and the first batches of mechanical systems have already been delivered to the site.
More than 20% of the systems have arrived so far, demonstrating the strength and efficiency of the project’s supply chain, the spokesperson said.
Khazna is adopting a ‘design and build’ approach to implementing this project, ensuring a smooth transition from concept to implementation. Design and engineering work is proceeding according to the approved plan, with clear progress being made in civil, construction, and architectural works.
The development of this facility comes within the framework of supporting the UAE’s comprehensive national strategy to expand the scope of artificial intelligence infrastructure nationwide.
It will form the cornerstone of the country’s artificial intelligence system and contribute to achieving the G42 Group’s vision of establishing an ‘Intelligence Network,’ leading to the construction of an integrated society based on artificial intelligence in the future.
G42 is backed by world-class investors including Mubadala, SilverLake, Microsoft, and the Dalio Family Office.
G42 in Vietnam
Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology Director Lam Dinh Thang, said that G42 Group was planning to invest nearly $2 billion in an AI mega data center in Ho Chi Minh city.
Speaking at the first Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term on Thursday, Thang said that science, technology, and innovation (STI) have proven to be vital driving forces for the city’s economic growth.
In this field, the city has achieved notable results that serve as a foundation for its development over the next five years, Thang disclosed.
Specifically, the Total Factor Productivity (TFP) index, which reflects the contribution of STI to economic growth, is expected to reach 59% by the end of 2025 and will remain a key growth driver in the following five years.
