On Sunday His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces welcomed Chancellor of Austria, Carl Nehmer at Al Shate’s Palace.
Firstly the prince congratulated Nehmer for taking oath as Austria’s Federal Chancellor and wished him success in serving his nation.
They talked about many things like expanding bilateral relations between both countries and also expressed their views on the Ukraine crisis and how it affects global peace.
UAE currently has the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council and Sheikh Mohamed expressed himself to use everything in its power to encourage peaceful solutions to the Ukraine crisis and to co-operate with all parties concerned.
The crowned prince acknowledged the close relations between the UAE and Austria and the stable growth in cooperation witnessed over the years. He expressed the interest to advance the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations in various fields, including economy, technology, energy, education, and other different domains in line with the priorities set by their management to obtain the aspirations of their peoples for improvement and prosperity.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, Minister of Climate Change and Environment; and Hamad Al Kaabi, the UAE ambassador to Austria, along with the delegation accompanying the Austrian chancellor.
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohamed also expressed his gratitude to Chancellor for Austria’s place condemning the Houthi terrorist assaults on civil amenities and websites in the UAE.
The Austrian chancellor thanked Sheikh Mohamed for the warm welcome and hospitality and he will look forward to strengthening its relations with the UAE and with that promoting worldwide peace.
Ghada Ashour, who grew up in Gaza, becomes fifth scholar selected for FIA’s flagship scholarship initiative Dubai, UAE, 8th December, 2025: The FIA’s United Against Online Abuse (UAOA) Campaign has welcomed Ghada Ashour, a 24-year-old student from Palestine, to its flagship scholarship programme, created to empower the next generation of researchers in the fight against online abuse in sport. Ghada grew up in Gaza where she has been studying remotely until gaining her place on the UAOA scholarship, which brought her to Dublin City University (DCU), Ireland. Becoming the fifth scholar to join the scholarship, she was selected based on her interests in social media, and her strong passion for advancing insights in this area for the benefit of everyone participating in sport. Launched in 2023, the programme offers talented students and young professionals from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research on the impact, prevalence, and prevention of online abuse in sport with a focus on developing practical solutions. Funded by the FIA Foundation, the UAOA scholars have been selected to undertake invaluable research at DCU based on their project proposals, dedication to achieving positive social change, and their unique perspectives approaching this issue.
