The United States has updated its international travel system

Beginning on 8th November New rules were announced for international travelers. Overseas travelers have to be fully vaccinated to enter the U.S. The new international COVID-19 air travel policies include exemptions for kids, and new federal contact tracing requirements.

Most non-US nationals were forbidden from visiting the UK, the 26 Schengen nations in Europe without border controls, Ireland, China, India, South Africa, Iran, and Brazil within the previous 14 days under the prior policy, which was introduced in early 2020 to limit the spread of Covid-19.

With a few exceptions, people who have been vaccinated must present documentation of a negative COVID-19 test within three days of flight. The unvaccinated must present a test taken within one day of travel.

Travelers flying will need to show an “official source” showing vaccination status, and airlines will need to match the name and date of birth to confirm the passenger is the same person reflected on the proof of vaccination.

Travelers under the age of 18 and those from countries with limited vaccination availability, such as those with less than 10% of the population vaccinated, will be excused from the vaccination requirement, but they must agree to get vaccinated within 60 days, according to the government.

Children between the ages of 2 and 17 are required to take a pre-departure test.  If the child is traveling with a fully vaccinated adult, they can test three days before departure; however, if the child is going alone or with unvaccinated adults, they must test one day before departure. Travelers must sign a vaccination attestation and are told that knowingly submitting incorrect or misleading information may result in criminal fines and imprisonment.

The CDC said there are no exceptions for the vaccine requirements “for religious reasons or other moral convictions.”

Airlines will be required to gather and preserve contact information on passengers for 30 days to assist with contact tracing.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has stated that it will accept FDA-approved or authorized vaccines as well as vaccines listed by the World Health Organization (WHO) for emergency use.

Pfizer-Bio N Tech. Moderna. AstraZeneca/ Covishield. Janssen/J&J. BIBP/Sinopharm. and Sinovac are all suitable vaccinations. Acceptable proof of COVID-19 Vaccination:

* Verifiable records (digital or paper) – Vaccination certificate with QR code. digital pass via apps such as UK NHS covid Pass and EU Digital covid Certificate

*Non-verifiable paper records – Printout of COVID-19 vaccination record or certificate issued at national or subnational level or by an authorized vaccine provider such as CDC vaccination card

*Non-verifiable digital records – A digital picture of the vaccination card. downloaded immunization record or vaccination certificate through any official source, such as a public health agency, government agency, or other authorized vaccine providers, or a mobile phone application without a QR code
