Bank Muamalat Launches Fully Digital Islamic Bank

Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd has launched the country’s first Islamic digital-only bank ATLAS, which is designed around faith and lifestyle alignment offering a seamless, Shariah-compliant banking experience that blends financial technology with spiritual values.

President and CEO Khairul Kamarudin said that the move represents the next evolution of Islamic banking to be more intuitive, inclusive, and deeply personal.

“ATLAS was built for people, to deliver not just financial solutions, but meaningful digital experiences that align with our customers’ values and daily needs,” he said.

ATLAS is designed to cater to the faith-conscious and tech-savvy generation, offering features such as real-time prayer times, Islamic calendar, daily dua, zikir counter, qiblat finder, and dedicated services for tithes and qurban. These services are aimed at promoting a values-driven lifestyle for Muslim users.

ATLAS is part of the bank’s RISE26+ strategy, focused on innovation, operational resilience, and Shariah leadership.

“The platform plays a crucial role in expanding access to unbanked segments, especially among younger demographics,” Khairul added.

Bank Muamalat said that ATLAS boasts global technology partners including Mambu, Google Cloud, Backbase, HyperQB, and Kestrl, to ensure the platform meets top-tier standards in performance, privacy, and user experience.

ATLAS is now available on the Apple App Store. It will also be available on Google Play Store soon. Moving forward, Bank Muamalat plans to the launch of a virtual ATLAS-Mastercard debit card, providing Shariah-compliant digital payments.

The app also includes profit-generating savings solutions like daily earnings accounts and upcoming tools such as the savings pouch, will allow greater financial control and planning aligned with Islamic values.

MiGOLD Launched

It may be mentioned that Muamalat Invest Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd, has launched the Muamalat-i Gold Fund (MiGOLD), a Shariah-compliant wholesale fund of funds that enables investors to gain exposure to gold, in April this year.

Designed as a secure, ethical and stable investment option, MiGOLD leverages gold’s strong history of value preservation and growth. The fund will invest in gold-focused exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and collective investment schemes (CIS), offering investors flexibility in both gold storage and liquidity management.

“MiGOLD stands out with its innovative structure, offering more than traditional gold investments by integrating a diversified portfolio,” the bank said.
