For Ramadan 2022, the UAE has declared public sector working hours

During the Holy Month of Ramadan, the UAE government has announced the working hours of public sector employees.

Ministers and other federal entities will operate from 9 am to 2 pm, from Monday to Thursday during Ramadan.

The working hours will be cut short to three hours: 9 am to 12 pm on Fridays.

According to astronomers, Ramadan in the UAE is expected to start on April 13 and end on May 1, with the first day of the Islamic celebration of Eid Al Fitr falling on May 2.

The dates are yet to be sure as they are subject to the sighting of the moon and can only be known the day before.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emirates (MOHRE) will bring Ramadan times closer to date for private-sector employees.

However, as per Article 65 of the UAE Labour Law, the regular working hours for the private sector are 8 hours per day or 48 hours per week, government enterprises are exempt from the Labour Law and frequently work for seven hours.

Fasting hours will be 13 hours and 40 minutes on April 2 and 14 hours and 20 minutes on May 1, according to Ibrahim Al Jarwan, a member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences.

School hours are also decreased during this holy month, but the details have yet to be disclosed.
