The UAE is among the world’s leading countries in digital aspects and thriving in the sector. The government plans to further enhance the country’s digital life and move forward with plans to develop a digital economy.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has recently announced to introduce a self-guidance digital service for the labourers so that they can now complete the self-guidance requirement on the ministry’s application.
The service will be available in 16 languages – Arabic, English, Urdu, Hindi, Malayalam, Tagalog, Chinese, Bengali, Pashtu, French, Spanish, Sinhala, Nepali, Dutch, Russian and Swahili.
The users will have to watch a 20-minute video which will provide a brief explanation of their rights and responsibilities, as well as the UAE’s culture and social norms.
Part of Digitisation
Qasim Jameel, Director of Guidance at MoHRE, said that this initiative was part of the ministry’s digital transformation plan, which aligns with the UAE Digital Government Strategy. The initiative will focus on the enhancement of the abilities of the job market and encourage employers’ and employees’ use of MoHRE’s services.
He added that the ministry has modified all guidance services to become digital and to provide users numerous channels to reach whichever service they want, whether through the guidance services centres or via the app.
He further said that the self-guidance digital service would help in raising awareness about the rights and responsibilities among other things such as working hours and leave entitlements. It also helps in educating labourers about the UAE’s culture and social norms.
