Weitz Breaks Ground on Four Seasons Resort in US

The Weitz Company, a subsidiary of Orascom Construction, on Monday announced its role as general contractor for the highly anticipated Four Seasons Resort and Residences Telluride development in the renowned ski resort community of Mountain Village in Colorado.

This development broke ground earlier this month and will bring a new level of luxury hospitality and residential living to the San Juan Mountains, setting a fresh benchmark for alpine destinations, the company said in a bourse filing with Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) this morning.

Located on a 4.5-acre (1.8-hectare) parcel, Four Seasons Telluride occupies the last remaining snow-front site in the Town of Mountain Village. Once complete, the 532,000 sq. ft. resort will include 52 luxury hotel rooms, 43 hotel residences, and 26 private residences, making it the first new luxury hotel and residential development in Telluride in more than 15 years.

The project combines modern mountain architecture with the highest standards of comfort.

The development’s extensive amenities will include ski-in/ski-out access, a state-of-the-art fitness center and spa, a private residents’ club, an indoor lap pool, outdoor hot tub, and a signature five-star restaurant. Landscaped walking paths, plazas, and a pedestrian bridge will seamlessly integrate the resort into the fabric of Mountain Village.

Creating World-Class Destination

According to the company’s CEO and President Kevin McClain, this project represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a world-class destination in one of the most iconic ski towns in the country.

With more than 75 years of experience building in Colorado, The Weitz Company has delivered some of the state’s most complex and iconic mountain hospitality and resort projects. That legacy is now being applied to the Four Seasons Telluride, which is set to become one of the most compelling luxury destinations in the Rockies, uniting the region’s unparalleled natural beauty with the finest standards of design and construction.

Extending beyond the US, this project further strengthens Orascom Construction’s global portfolio in luxury hospitality, building on landmark developments delivered in the Mediterranean and MEA region.

The Weitz Company was founded in Des Moines in Iowa in 1855 and is a full-service construction company, general contractor, design builder, and construction manager that serves all 50 US.

It is one of the oldest general contractors in the US and an industry leader in aviation construction, Industrial construction, mission critical construction, and commercial construction. Acquired in 2012, Weitz leverages Orascom Construction’s international expertise on large-scale, complex infrastructure projects to deliver premier results to clients across the US.
