UAE top the world in COVID-19 vaccinations
The UAE has achieved the distinction of completely vaccinating its residents against COVID-19 among all countries in the world.
According to an index released by Our World In Data, the UAE takes the top spot among all countries with a population of over one million.
The UAE has also topped the list of the countries with a population of one million+ across the world when it comes to residents who have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
As on April 13, nearly 97.5% of qualified locals were completely immunized against versus Covid-19 and entire population received one dose. The UAE even came second in the world as far as the variety PCR tests performed per 1,000 individuals.
The UAE has amongst the most affordable fatality prices from the infection, raking 9th internationally. The last COVID-19 related death was reported on March 8th.
UAE Recovering
“The latest Covid-19 statistics confirm that the country is recovering, and there is a significant decline in daily cases,” a government spokesperson said on Wednesday. Daily cases are now well below the 250-mark — a significant decline from the 3,000+ infections reported in mid-January this year.
“We urge everyone to continue adhering to the precautionary measures, including wearing face masks, practising social distancing, sanitizing hands and avoiding crowded areas.
“Protecting the country’s successes amid new COVID-19 variants is a social challenge that we need to meet, and we are confident that the people of the UAE are up to this challenge,” the spokesperson added.
The UAE has reported 894,286 cases and the some 2,302 people have died due to the COVID-19 since March 2020.
Globally speaking, 64.8% of the world population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine – 11.42 billion doses have been administered globally, and 12.44 million are now administered each day.
Only 14.8% of people in low-income countries have received at least one dose.
