Mohamed Al Hammadi has led the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) in successfully delivering the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program.

His responsibilities in Enec are directing the deployment of nuclear energy plants in the UAE and developing plans for a peaceful nuclear energy program and non-regulatory infrastructure.

His Excellency offers a strong background to ENEC in municipal power and utility projects, including management, construction, finance, and administration.

The UAE and Arab World’s first nuclear energy plant, the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant comes under the management of Al Hammadi as well.  Mohamed Ibrahim Al Hammadi, CEO of ENEC, in a news release, said, “It is the culmination of more than a decade of vision, strategic planning, and robust program management. Despite the recent global challenges, our team has demonstrated outstanding resilience and commitment to the safe delivery of Unit 1. We are now another step closer to achieving our goal of supplying up to a quarter of our nation’s electricity needs and powering its future growth with safe, reliable, and emissions-free electricity. The first unit of the Barakah plant was started up and connected to the UAE grid in 2020, making it the first in the Arab World, and the UAE the 31st nation to use nuclear energy for electricity generation globally.

Al Hammadi also manages ENEC’s Joint Venture subsidiary Nawah Energy Company. It is responsible for operating and maintaining the Barakah plant, and Barakah One Company, which manages the financial and commercial interests of the project. Over 3,000 people work across the organization, spanning over 50 nationalities, making it one of the most multicultural and multinational energy projects globally.

Enec’s leadership has shown the world a new model for new nuclear developments, with Barakah recognized as one of the most successful new-build nuclear energy programs, and clean, mega-projects globally in terms of project management and cost.

Five of other UAE’s top businesses have been ranked among the top 10 of the Gulf Business’s Top 100 Arab Power List for 2022.
